If you’re one of those gamers who can actually stomach playing versus fighters online, then you might find this interesting. Super Street Fighter IV’s technical director, Masahiro Taguchi, has recently revealed some of the upgrades Super Street Fighter IV will feature in its online play modes.

The first is the option to create eight-player lobbies, where two players at a time step up to battle while the remaining six watch, able to chat and comment on the fight among themselves. Apparently this was done so that players can observe and discuss strategies, and to put a more social spin on things. There will also be a new winner-stays-on battle system for online lobbies, and each player’s selected character can no longer be seen beforehand by their opponent – which was apparently a highly-requested feature.
