Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for PS2 and PSP delayed

You have to wonder whether Konami is taking the mickey out of the fans with this name for the latest game in the Silent Hill series. Shattered Memories is a re-imagining of the first game in the series. The title could refer to the fans who are going to bitch and whine about every little change the developers made to the original story and trademark gameplay. Anyway, the whole crux of this release is the use of Harry’s flashlight, which players can swing around with the Wiimote.

The Wii version will be out in time for Christmas (internationally, at least), but it seems that the PS2 and PSP versions have been pushed back to some undisclosed time next year. Hard luck, eh? I wonder what occasions the delay? It’s not like there was a rush of PS2 and PSP software to avoid. Probably some development related issues.

Apparently some of the scenes in the upcoming game are inspired by the movie.
