According to the press release we received this morning, there’s been a lot of speculation regarding the upcoming DLC for Metro 2033. While I don’t know about that, what I do know is that I like DLC, so here’s an opportunity to lay those rumours to rest, or spread some good news, whichever you’d prefer.
Entitled the “Ranger Pack,” this optional DLC will include two new game modes: Ranger and Ranger Hardcore. The regular Ranger mode will reduce the amount of ammo you’ll find in the game world, but increase the damage dealt and received per bullet. That means enemies will go down quicker, but so will you if you’re not careful. Ranger Hardcore is much the same, but removes the HUD for a super-immersive effect. Frankly, I thought this would be an option available from the beginning, as a game like Metro is so good at creating an immersive experience, but there you go anyway.
There will also be two new weapons: the Heavy Automatic Shotgun and Volt Driver, as well as 250GS worth of new achievements to unlock. As yet, no price or release date has been confirmed, but THQ says the DLC will be available “in the very near future” for both XBL and Steam.
