I was fairly sure that this was old news, but Epic bigwig Mike Capps has felt the need to discuss Epic’s stance on PC games development – just in case we didn’t already get it. First he reminisced about the good old days when Epic was a PC-focused developer, but slowly, as the internet evolved and pirates became better at what they did, this started to change. The last straw was when Epic released Gears of War on the PC, an experience which soured them to the idea of releasing the sequels on PC entirely. The change to Epic’s business model, and their switch in focus from PC to console has been largely for reasons like this. Anyway, I know what a powder-keg this argument can turn into: DLC forces us to pirate… blah, blah, blah… yes but we have a right to protect our product… and so on and so forth. Let’s avoid that here.
