OK, I know I said I’d try to lay off the Top 10 X posts, but it’s Friday and I’m in a good mood, so when I saw this, I thought back fondly to one of the things that has made gaming so much fun over the years: developers with a sense of humour. Finding secret pop-culture references in games or sneaky pokes at similar games made by other developers has to be one of the greatest small joys a nerd can have. I mean, everyone remembers the old Doomed space marine you could find in the prison level of Duke Nukem 3D, the unfortunate Lara Croft in Shadow Warrior, the dildo in GTA: San Andreas, and the literally hundreds of Easter Eggs in the Metal Gear Solid series. Gamingbolt recently put together a Top 25 list of their favourite Easter Eggs from games both archaic and recent. I didn’t even know about some of these gems, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. They’ve got a few obvious ones, including the Cow Level in Diablo II, looking at Ashley’s panties in Resident Evil 4, and the hundreds of pop culture references in World of Warcraft. Check it out here.
