And no, we’re not talking about a studio to cover in-game cinematics, we’re talking about a full-on movie studio for feature films like 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Apparently that film was a success (weird, who would have thought?) and so Ubisoft wants to squeeze more films out of their existing stable of game franchises.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be based in Paris and will be headed by Jean-Julien Baronnet. It’s probably a good thing that the company responsible for making the games will now be overseeing any films as well.

No projects have been announced yet, but while we’re all hoping that the first film will be an Assassin’s Creed movie, it’s more likely to be something totally lame like a Petz or a Girl’s Life film starring some flavour-of-the-month tween star.
