We mentioned yesterday that Sony’s new handheld, now called the PlayStation Vita, will be getting a BioShock game. This, coupled with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, means that many people will buying the crap out of the PSV when it hits stores – me included. Seriously, a portable BioShock? Do want.

There was nothing much detailing the project other than the initial announcement by Levine during Sony’s press event. Luckily for us, IGN caught up with Levine and pressed him for a little more information. BioShock on the PSV won’t be a rehashed port of the first two games, and it won’t be a spin-off or downscaled version of upcoming BioShock Infinite. This PSV BioShock is going to be “a core game”.

“It’s a different project,” Levine told IGN. “It’s its own thing being built from the ground up. That is going to be strange and surprising to people. I think we always want to surprise people. If I’m just saying ‘here’s BioShock 1 on Vita’, that’s something we could potentially do, but you don’t need us to do that. Somebody can make that happen.”
