Now this is cool. Batman: Arkham City, Rocksteady’s upcoming sequel to their fantastic Bat-’em-up, Batman: Arkham Asylum, is going to have more than just Rocksteady’s own version of Batdude soaring through the skies above the Joker’s extended asylum. As leaked by New Zealand retailer Mighty Ape (FYI: I have no idea why I provided that utterly pointless linkage right there), pre-ordering Arkham City from specific retailers will score you a bonus costume variant – each one exclusive to a particular store. There’s no word yet on whether or not this will apply to those of us living on the southern tip of Africa, but it’s still worth checking out the image beyond the jump, which shows the different Batpeople in all their glorious glory.

There you have ’em. From left to right, you’ll spot costumes from Batman Beyond, Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Earth One, 1970s Batman, Batman: The Animated Series and Rocksteady’s own take on the Caped Crusader. I really hope that these costume variants become available as DLC soon after the game’s release, because they’re f***ing awesome.

In other Bat-related news, it seems Venom-infused Bane (aka The Man Who Broke Batman’s Back) will be joining Bats in Arkham City with a brief stint as an unlikely ally when the pair team up to take down a gang of drug-dealing douchenuggets. The screenshot at the top of this post confirms it. Don’t they make the cutest couple?
