Videogame piracy – man that sh!t gets everywhere. With the end of a year comes an endless barrage of “top x to be y in 2011” lists. Here we have the top 5 PC, Wii and Xbox 360 titles to be shamelessly stolen during 2011.
Want to take a guess which of the three platforms had the highest numbers of pirated games? Hah! What a stupid guessing game – we all know it was the PC. Two games overlap on the PC and Xbox 360, with the PC boasting piracy figures that are literally millions of instances greater than the Xbox 360 equivalent.
This collection of plundered booty lists comes from the organised pirates over at Torrent Freak. Hit the jump to see if your favourite game of 2011 got torrented to hell and back.

PsiCoReThere’s some good explanations for the PC stats. Most pirates probably bought 2 and 3 on the PC list so they can actually play the game after the crappy single player experience – those who didn’t are probably losers anyway and won’t be missed. Crysis 2 was probably cracked due to the daft executives at Crytek’s decision to use SolidShield DRM and the foul taste in gamers’ mouths after Crysis 1 and it’s SecuROM debarcle. Fifa 12? LOL. What a waste of bandwidth. Not even sure what to comment there. Portal 2 – Probably the steam stigma. I admit it I never touched Steam games for years until I was forced to and you know what? It’s not so bad. It could be a bit more bandwidth friendly to capped users though…
