Over the weekend, senior producer Steve Parker announced via Twitter that he has left Blizzard and will not be participating in any further development of Diablo III. Parker’s announcement read: “Hey Twitter, I’m no longer working at Blizzard or on D3. I’ve had a great 5 years there and those guys are going to do an amazing job with Diablo.”

Exactly why Parker left is not clear, but he had been with Blizzard since 2006 – no mention was made of what his intended plans might be.

Just last week Jay Wilson, the game director for Diablo III, announced that Blizzard had decided to alter core mechanics of the game. This has naturally cast doubt on whether the game will stick to its intended release date of first half of 2012. With Blizzard still making up their minds on things like identify scrolls and character stats, it seems unlikely.
