The Banner Saga gets the hell Kickstarted out of it

Remember The Banner Saga? It’s that very stylish “role-playing meets turn-based strategy, wrapped into an adventure mini-series about Vikings” game. Indie developer Stoic released the first trailer for the game just less than two months ago, and shortly after that they announced a (you guessed it!) Kickstarter campaign to inject wads of cash into their development plans.

At time of writing, the Kickstarter is mere hours away from closing. Originally the three-man team at Stoic aimed to get $100, 000.00 but have ended up with over $650, 000.00 which is a clear indication that the world is totally ready for some 2D Viking action.

The massive increase in their budget means we get all sorts of wonderful additions, like the game making an appearance Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network on top of PC and Mac. They’ve also managed to hire Austin Wintory to score the game’s music. Wintory recently put together the rather sublime music for thatgamecompany’s Journey. Hit the jump for a Kickstarter update video featuring three very excited Stoic developers.
