StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is 99% done

That means Blizzard only has 1% of the work left to do before we get to watch Sarah Kerrigan obliterate all who oppose her bloodthirsty-but-probably-just-misunderstood Zerg swarm. That makes me happy! I love the Zerg, even though I am probably the worst StarCraft II player in existence. No really, everybody at NAG HQ can vouch for that after a fairly disastrous 4v4 match in which I may or may not have been integral to our demise.

The lead designer for Heart of the Swarm, Dustin Browder, recently chatted to website Kotaku and made mention that the finish line for the anticipated Zerg campaign was in sight. Unfortunately, the “last 1%’s a bitch”. In other words, despite the fact that the game is 99% finished, that last 1% could take a long time to complete. And we all know how long Blizzard can take with things.

“There’s something in [place] for everything—it’s whether we like it or not that’s an open question. It’s the tuning and polish that really takes us a long time, and that’s where we get into the unknowns. Like we could do a play-through next week that we’re like, ‘Wow this is really great.’ Or we could do a play-through and we still have 250 items we wanna fix. You know, historically speaking we’re doing pretty well. We’re getting there. But I don’t know for sure yet when we’ll be done.”

Come on… You weren’t that bad. All you did wrong really was not having an actual army of any kind when it came to fighting the bad guys. Other than that, you did mine some really good looking minerals (haven’t seen quality like that in years). ;)

They were really, really nice minerals, weren’t they?
