Alright, so it’s not exactly “free-to-play”, but it’s a start. The pessimists would sigh and say something ominous like, “And so it begins,” but instead of perceiving this as the death knell for MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, let’s treat it as a demo version instead.
As of right now, you can play The Old Republic for free up until your character hits level 15. You can create any character you want – the entire game is open to you assuming you don’t go higher than level 15. Anyone who’s played the game will tell you that’s not really possible though, and you’ll likely hit your character’s fifteenth level around the same time you’re due to leave your starting planet.
Once you’ve hit level 15, you’ll be able to purchase the whole game to continue your adventure in a galaxy far, far away. Alternatively, if you hit level 15 and decide it’s not your thing, then you’ll have only lost a couple of hours so no big deal. This is open to anyone except those of you who have already created an Old Republic account and either cancelled it, or allowed it to run out of subscription.
