Let’s be honest, Zynga caters for a specific market when it comes to their games. They are, however, trying to change the opinion the so-called “core gamers” have of them, and as such we’ve seen clones of other handheld games that caught the “core” collective’s attention; see Tiny Tower and Zynga’s not so original Dream Heights. That being said, Tiny Tower was also based off another game, Corporation Inc., which makes Zynga’s game a rip-off of a rip-off.
Now, however, Zynga is publishing a game by mobile developer Phosphor Games Studio, which recently gave iOS gamers The Dark Meadow. This time, Phosphor looks to be going after the same market that Infinity Blade thoroughly dominated.
Horn is an action adventure game about a boy who wakes up in his village a thousand years later to find that everyone is gone and there are now loads of giant mechanised monsters wanting to smash things. It looks very pretty and, if the trailer is anything to go by, will probably feature gesture-based fighting mechanics. Trailer after the jump.
So aside from the VERY obvious Team ICO inspiration, Horn doesn’t look too bad, does it? I’m not entirely convinced by the guy in the trailer who claims that tablets and cell phones are replacing gaming consoles, but you’ve got to admire his enthusiasm for Horn.
