Proving that Electronic Arts really does mean for Battlefield to be their answer to Activision’s Call of Duty, Battlefield 4 has been announced in a rather odd way: during a developer commentary video on the multiplayer portion of the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The video drops the news right at the start, telling viewers that all pre-orders for the limited edition of Medal of Honor: Warfighter will come with access to the Battlefield 4 beta.

The developer commentary video was posted on the MoH: Warfighter blog by EA’s UK marketing man Dan Sheridan. The post was also tweeted by Sheridan who added the hash tag “#BF4Beta”.

Just last week, there was a rumour floating about the Internet stating that all pre-orders of MoH: Warfighter would come with access to the Battlefield 4 beta. Turns out that rumour is totally true, making this the weirdest announcement of one of EA’s biggest IPs. Video after the jump.
