Giblets: Lexmark bows out of the Inkjet printer market

As the wheel of fortune turns, so players in the technology industry consolidate their operations or shut down those that aren’t making as big profits as they used to. Lexmark is one of those companies, having announced that they’re shutting down their inkjet printer business, focusing instead on cheap laser units. The company will sell off its 1000-plus patents related to the technology and retrench approximately 1700 employees. The company has promised to support existing printers and will continue to produce cartridges for models that enjoyed healthy sales. This follows the 625 employees already retrenched in January this year. Will HP follow suit?
