Last week Thursday, Konami stunned Metal Gear Solid fans by unveiling a new game in the long-running series. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes runs on the Fox Engine, which looks like it should be Konami’s next gen monster even though they say it runs on current generation hardware. During their press event last week, Ground Zeroes was shown running on a contemporary PC. Konami has now released that footage so you can check out what all the fuss is about.
And really, it’s completely understandable why those attending the unveiling were blown away: Fox Engine looks amazing.
According to director Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is a prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5. Speaking at PAX this weekend, Kojima clarified that the game stars the original Snake (aka Big Boss) from Metal Gear Solid 3. Hit the jump for the lengthy reveal, with a bit of actual gameplay at the end. And yes, that’s all real-time stuff; no pre-rendered cut-scenes there.
