For the last six or so months a large number of Sapphire HD7870 owners have been complaining about random blackouts and erratic behaviour, thought to be a noisy GPU electrical signal caused by faulty PWM operation. Sapphire later acknowledged that a bad batch of ceramic capacitors was responsible and assured users the issue was fixed. However, BeHardware has found that new batches of HD7870 cards still suffer from the issue, causing Sapphire to launch a large-scale product recall in France and other EU countries and a change in the RMA process for HD78xx owners of their cards. This isn’t limited to just Sapphire and other brands may be susceptible to the same issue.
