CD Projekt releases first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077

The folks behind the RPG Witcher series are busy turning the pen-and-paper RPG Cyberpunk into a video game. That game is Cyberpunk 2077, which was announced back in May 2012. Since the announcement, CD Projekt has been very quiet regarding their new, umm, project.

That silence has just been broken with the release of the game’s first trailer. There’s zero gameplay to speak of as the entire thing is a cinematic CGI affair, but it sure looks interesting. In the trailer we get to meet the Psycho Squad, which is a special division of the police dedicated to taking out “psychos” when the regular police can’t get the job done themselves.

And what are psychos? Psychos are the people who have augmented themselves with cybernetics to such an extent that they “rebel against their biological body parts as well as all things organic around them.” And when that happens, people get butchered because people are organic. Trailer after the jump.

In the opening few seconds of the trailer, and right at the end of the trailer, there’s a bunch of red text that flashes. Eagle-eyed people have captured that text and found some further snippets of information, such as the game will be a non-linear and open–world RPG. It also reveals that CD Projekt is still building the team to make this game – so yes, we might be in for quite a wait with this one.

Day one buy for me when it comes out. CD Projekt makes amazing games and I’ve no doubt this will kick ass. There’s also some Fifth Element references in the trailer, which makes it more awesome!

Grrr. I hate cinematic trailers. Gimme some gameplay, man. If I wanted to watch movies, I’d… er… watch movies. Yeah, that’s profound.
