Unmewted: Team Meat explains Mew-Genics

After four months of dainties, keyhole peeks and hints, Team Meat have finally told the world what Mew-Genics, their new game, is about. And it’s… a cat-lady sim. In case the thought hasn’t struck you in the face with the force of a hairball collection flung from a trebuchet, that alone is cause for celebration. But wait: there’s more.

“I think most would describe Mew-Genics as a cross between The Sims and Pokémon with a sprinkling of Animal Crossing and a dash of Tamagotchi, but at its core the game really isn’t like anything we’ve seen before,” writes Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen, who goes on to illustrate the concept with an account of in-game happenings that includes cat humping breeding, a terminal food phobia, feline narcolepsy, and a doomed attempt at a kitty pageant. Oh, and cryogenic storage: verily, the cornerstone of every crazy cat empire worth its litter.

If the very thought of this game doesn’t fill you with the righteous fire, consider that it’s being made by the same people who slapped us with Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac.

Mew-Genics will be freed on Steam, Android and iOS to begin with; there is no word on release date other than later “this year”.
