The blokes over at Polygon have dug up the skinny on Codename Maverick Hunter, a first-person Mega Man game that was being developed by Armature, founded by some of the ex-Retro Studios talent responsible for Metroid Prime. The game, which only had 6 months of development before Capcom said “do not want”, would have been a gritty “reboot” with weapon-switching, platforming elements and of course, plenty of in-your-face bad-assery that tries to be hardcore like Mister Chief but just comes off as kind of lame. You’d have to check out the videos on the Polygon page to see what I mean. Seems we dodged a bullet here, unlike Bomberman: Act Zero.
