Yesterday, Nintendo held one of its Nintendo Direct presentations. It was primarily 3DS focused, but that doesn’t mean that the Wii U was completely left out. That’s a good thing, because the Wii U really, REALLY needs some new games and love from the Japanese company. It seems that there’s been nothing but bad news for the console during the last couple of weeks, but hopefully things are going to start looking up.
Pikmin 3 is probably one of the Wii U’s most anticipated games. Originally a launch window title, the game was meant to be out by the end of March 2013. In case you haven’t noticed, we’re now in April and we’re still not bossing Pikmins around on our Wii U consoles. Luckily there’s a concrete release date; unluckily it’s still around four months away. Pikmin 3 is out on 04 August 2013.
As an added bonus to patient Pikmin fans, Nintendo revealed another new Pikmin species during the presentation. The little pink Pikmin has the ability to fly and will help you cart around objects. “They will be helpful in different ways than the other Pikmin types,” Iwata explained. From the sounds of that, the pink Pikmin might not be as combat-ready as the other new Pikmin species to appear in the game: the Rock Pikmin.
