Well now, this is awkward. Sony has inadvertently leaked files tied to pre-orders of GTA V. Those who pre-ordered Rockstar’s upcoming money printer via the European PlayStation Store were mistakenly given access to start downloading portions of the game. Those files have since been data-mined into oblivion, which means that there are loads of GTA V spoilers out on the Internet as of now. Be warned.

Among the assets leaked online include the game’s main theme and other things. I can’t tell you what those “other things” are because I’m not taking one for the team in the name of gaermz jernalizms; I want to head into GTA V spoiler-free thanks. If YOU want to know, however, then head over to RockstarInformer.com where they live-blogged the data-mining sessions.

Sony has since released a statement via the PlayStation Blog in which they apologise to Rockstar and gamers.

“Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17.”

If you’re craving new GTA V information that isn’t loaded with spoilers, then you can always head back to that neat Los Santos travel log that Rockstar recently published. They’ve added new content to it since we last wrote about it; the “Serentiy and Wellness” section is particularly hilarious.
