Boy oh boy, I am excited for the HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. I’ll let you in on a secret: I’ve never played a Zelda game, ever. I blame my lack of Nintendo hardware throughout my gaming life. The Wii U is my first stab at Nintendo’s offerings, and it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride to date considering the lack of titles to play. So you can understand my excitement for Wind Waker. It’ll be my virgin Zelda experience on my virgin Nintendo hardware – that’s a lot of virginity.
Zelda and Nintendo veterans, however, might not be as excited. I think Nintendo has anticipated that and so have decided to include a Hero Mode difficulty for the HD remake. You’ll be able to choose Hero Mode right from the start of the game unlike Skyward Sword that you had to beat before Hero Mode unlocked. What’s more, you can start an adventure in Hero Mode and then turn it off and on when things get too rough.
With Hero Mode enabled, enemies will do double damage and you won’t be finding any recovery hearts hidden in pots and grass. That means you’ll need to rely on other sources for health. Hit the jump to watch Hero Mode Link get pummelled into oblivion.
