You know what Sierra point-and-click HD remake I’ve been waiting for since forever? Quest for Glory: So You Want to be a Hero, obviously, but Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is probably, like, number five or six on the list. Or rather was, anyway, because now that it’s a thing that is actually happening, it’s up to number one.
Original Gabriel Knight creator Jane Jensen has announced that her new studio, Pinkerton Road, will be handling a remake of the game just in time for its 20th anniversary, or just a bit afterwards because technically the game turns two-oh in December and the remake is only scheduled to drop sometime next year.
Devotees will be thrilled to know that the remake will retain its 2D perspective with none of that newfangled triple-dimensional sorcery, and while some new content will be added in, nothing from the original game will be altered or removed.
“We didn’t want to completely change the formula and break it!” Jensen told GameTrailers. “The game deserved to be remade lovingly, just as it was. We are adding in a few new things here and there, but I wanted the original to be fully represented.”
Game’s out for iPad, PC, and Mac in mid-2014, but in the meantime you can keep up to date with development on its official website.
