The acclaimed documentary Minecraft: The Story of Mojang has been uploaded by respected video game documentary people 2 Player Productions for free viewing. The 2012 production documents the history of Markus Persson’s company Mojang and the creation of Minecraft and includes appearances by industry stalwarts such as Peter Molyneux. Video and more info after the jump.
The film is about an hour and 45 minutes long and contains some very interesting insights into the genesis of the Minecraft phenomenon. It was originally funded by a Kickstarter campaign and 2 Player Productions does ask those who enjoy the video to make donations. So why upload it for free you ask? Obviously YouTube ad money and gaining a few new fans in the process is worth it.
That being said, 2 Player Productions previously uploaded the documentary onto torrent-sharing website The Pirate Bay whilst urging fans of the film to purchase it if they enjoyed it. Regardless, it is a must see for anyone with even a slight interest in Mojang and their developments and is really quite a touching tribute to Minecraft itself. Enjoy:
