A very merry Wintersday to the citizens of Tyria. Yesterday’s patch has switched Lion’s Arch into its festive snow-covered frosting, and the toymaker Tixx is back along with all his events. For the next six weeks, you can enter Tixx’s workshop to do events, run the refreshed Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle, attend the Bell Choir minigame, pelt each other in team-based Snowball Mayhem, and more.
But that’s not all. The patch also brought with it the conclusion to the Toxic Tower saga, and a host of rather important class changes.
When you return to Kessex Hills, you’ll enter a story instance in which you finish off the Tower once and for all. This instance has two solutions, you can puzzle your way through, or brute force it by fighting. There is an achievement for either way, and you can replay the instance at any time.
When you’re done with the story, you enter the new (and permanently altered) Kessex Hills, which contains a bunch of new events related to your actions within the Tower. Be sure to check it out.
Armorsmith, Leatherworker and Tailoring crafting disciplines are now capped at 500, which allows for Ascended armor crafting. It’ll take you a while, and it’s not cheap. Considering Ascended Armor only adds about 7 defense per piece, and +1 to the Stat layout you craft compared to Exotic of the same type, there really is no need unless you like the look or love to min-max.
Every profession has a new healing skill to unlock from the skill panel for 25 skill points.
The December 10 Balance Update is now also live, which makes some sweeping changes to the traits and trait lines of all professions. You can read more about it here.
New Gem Store Items
The Black Lion Trading Company has geared up for Christmas. There are three new face styles for every race and gender, accessible only through a Total Makeover Kit.
The fabled Collection Expander is now live, letting you increase the capacity of your Collections storage by 250, up to three times, for a maximum of 1000.
You can read the full patchnotes here, they’re quite extensive.
