Xbox executive Yusuf Mehdi has announced that Microsoft has sold 3 million Xbox One consoles since the launch date of 22 November 2013. According to Microsoft, the Xbox One sold 1 million units worldwide on day one, and creeped over the 2 million mark by 11 December. They hit 3 million units sold before the end of 2013. By comparison, Sony sold 2.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide in its first three weeks. The Japanese company has yet to update their sales figures post holiday season, but you can bet that they will now that Microsoft is blowing their own trumpet.
There is still no confirmed release date for the Xbox One in South Africa, but Microsoft South Africa has assured us that the console will launch at some point in 2014 and not early 2015 as recent rumours suggested.
