Watch This: QCF Design Stoic Prototype

So what do you do after you’ve finally released your award winning indie game after years of hard work? Well, you get to work on your next game… obviously.

QCF Design – makers of the IGF award-winning Desktop Dungeons – are currently spending some of their office hours prototyping new game ideas to find something new to work on once all their Desktop Dungeons work is complete. Last week they revealed one prototype they’ve been working on: Stoic. It’s a fighting game where you plan out your moves sequentially and then watch them executed in brilliant, gory glory.

Click through to drool over some gameplay of this amazing-looking prototype.

Pretty cool. I like the rewind mechanic – I wish more turn-based games allowed you to replay your moves in real-time.

Yeah it’s a really effective method of feedback at a meta level. The best example is Super Meat Boy’s summary video of each level where it shows each of your attempts. I allows players to appreciate failures, I think :).

I’m not sure what I just saw but I liked it.

    A lot.
