Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be hitting PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on 07 October 2014. The release coincides with another release of an equally anticipated title, Alien: Isolation. Better clear your October schedule.
Revealed in November last year, Shadow of Mordor tells a non-canonical story set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players take on the role of Talion, a ranger of Gondor tasked with guarding the Black Gate to Mordor. After his family is killed and he’s left for dead by Sauron’s troops, Talion returns to the living realm with Wraith powers that will form one of the game’s major gameplay mechanics. The game’s Nemesis System promises to make enemy encounters a more personal affair; you can see that in action over here.
The announcement of the release date came via a new story trailer for the game. You can find that trailer after the jump.
