As Chris alluded to in his weekly round-up, Blizzard has announced a new single-player component to Hearthstone. At present, outside of battling against AI players and playing through the tutorial, there’s little in the way of single-player content.
That’s about to change with Curse of Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure. Blizzard unveiled the first single-player Adventure content last week Friday at PAX East. The good news is that it’s going to be free content – to a certain extent.
Curse of Naxxramas will bring a new dungeon to battle through in a number of card duels against AI controlled characters unique to the Adventure mode. The dungeon will be split over five different wings, the first of which will be free to all Hearthstone players. Blizzard will open up a new wing every week for five weeks.
If you want to access the remaining four wings you’ll have to pay to enter them using either real money or gold coins accumulated in game. In that way it’s much like how admission works to The Arena.
Completing each wing of the Adventure mode will give you a brand new Legendary card for use in your decks. In addition to that, there will be 30 new cards to collect during your Adventure mode playthrough.
If you’re hoping for class-specific cards, then you’re in luck as Curse of Naxxramas will feature class challenges for you to complete outside of the standard Adventure playthrough. Blizzard his hinting that these challenges will be pretty tough, but the class-specific rewards will probably be worth the effort.
Finally, there will be a brand new board to play on while in Adventure mode.
No release date has been mentioned; neither has the pricing for the additional wings.
