Giblets: Oh, THAT’S why there’s an Assassin’s Creed every year

Ubisoft just released a neat little company fact sheet providing a handful of interesting odds and ends about the third biggest publisher in the world. One of those interesting bits of info regards the Assassin’s Creed IP, which has sold 73 million units worldwide since it debuted in 2007. The second biggest IP in Ubisoft’s stable? Just Dance, with 48 million units sold worldwide. THAT is why we get a new Assassin’s Creed every year – it’s pretty much Ubisoft’s money printer.

Call me a cynical know-it-all blowhard, but I was under the impression that duuuuh!

Oh yes, total “duuuuh”, but it’s the figure that’s new and the MASSIVE gap between AC and Ubi’s next biggest IP that’s interesting, you know-it-all blowhard.

That’s cynical know-it-all blowhard, and yeah, it’s pretty much their CoD. Now if only they got rid of that ridiculous meta-plot that they insist on throwing us into whenever we actually start to have fun in the actual game.

Completely agree. Have you played AC4 yet? That one’s present day story is actually rather interesting; at least they’ve tried something new. And then, AC Liberation (the one starring Aveline) does away with a present day entirely, save for some VERY minor object hunting in the past setting. The game benefits greatly from that and is well worth looking at if you haven’t already.
