Major League Gaming has teamed up with ESPN to bring eSports to X Games Austin from June 6-8 at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. Considering that MLG will only be inviting eight of the world’s best Call of Duty: Ghosts teams to compete in a three-day tournament for a shot at a medal, it’s not exactly a massive addition to the event. However, it is still a welcome boost to the legitimacy of competitive gaming as a sport.
MLG also announced plans to construct a 15,000-seat stadium dedicated to hosting eSports on China’s Hengqin Island. The MLG Gaming Arena will contribute to a video game-themed destination called the V-Zone, due to open in 2017.
