Are you traveling to the UK in the next few days/weeks/months? If so, take note of some new regulations that not apply to anyone traveling into, or out of Britain’s borders. You may now be asked to power on your mobile phones, tablets or laptops in order to make sure that your device isn’t a bomb in disguise. Recent warnings by various government agencies from the US and a few other EU countries have suggested that “terrorists” are now able to disguise bombs as mobile phones and have them bypass the usual metal or bomb detectors.
So if you’re planning on bringing a tablet or other mobile device with your carry-on luggage, make sure it’s charged before you do so if you are asked to power it up. The same rules are currently in place for travelers entering or existing the US, so it’s best to plan ahead properly.
