During the final moments of the Evo fighting championships in Las Vegas, Bandai Namco revealed a new Tekken in the long-running series. There hasn’t been a numbered Tekken sequel since 2007.
Tekken 7 is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 so you can expect some stunning visuals. The team working on the game opted to go with Unreal Engine 4 so they could spend more time developing the Tekken 7‘s mechanics rather than spending time developing a proprietary engine.
“With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire,” said game director and series producer Katsuhiro Harada. As for what those platforms might be is still uncertain, but Bandai Namco has promised more information on 25 July during the San Diego Comic-Con. There’s a brief teaser trailer after the jump.
