This is certainly unexpected: Casey Hudson, who has for the last several years been the project lead for the entire Mass Effect franchise, has announced his departure from BioWare. He has not divulged what it is that he is moving on to; it sounds like he’s yet to decide and has described himself as hitting “the reset button” to figure out “what I really want to do with the next phase of my life.”
Hudson joined BioWare nearly 16 years ago and worked on early titles like MDK 2. He would later head up the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic before moving onto the Mass Effect trilogy. His departure from BioWare in no way affects the continued development of upcoming titles. This includes Hudson’s work on an as yet unrevealed new IP.
