Eleven days in, and we’ve been so busy being MAXIMUM EXCITE for 24 Days of Giving that we’ve missed every meal for the last week and a half. RedTide actually passed out from extreme hunger days ago, and nobody even noticed.

It’s probably safe to officially deem this situation “dire”.

Thankfully, day 11 is brought to you by Appetite, the free-to-download app that takes care of all your take-away food needs at the touch of a few buttons. Here’s what it is exactly, as detailed by Appetite themselves:

“Now you can order takeaways from restaurants and fast food outlets from the comfort of your mobile phone.

Appetite is the new app for iOS and Android that lets you browse various menus from restaurants and fast food outlets in your area (wherever you may be), and then order items as you wish.

Once you’ve submitted your order, you’ll get a confirmation via SMS, letting you know when your order will be ready for collection. Or, if the restaurant or outlet offers the service, you can pay online via your phone and get your takeaway delivered to your door or office or wherever your current location may be.

It’s that simple, and it’s free. All you pay for is your food order, as usual, and a delivery fee if applicable. The app can be downloaded to your phone for free and once you’ve registered, you’re ready to take on takeaway the easy way.

“This is a South African-developed app for South Africans that really takes the pain out of getting takeaways,” says Chris Davis, who started the company in October last year. “They don’t have to wait if they’re picking up their order, they don’t have to deal with difficult phone calls, and they can even pay via the secure, online transaction processing system.”

When you open the Appetite app on your phone, it will automatically bring up a list of restaurants and fast food outlets in your current location. You can browse all their menus and select the items you want. The app connects directly to the restaurant or outlet and as soon as you confirm your order, it immediately sends the information to their order counter which is automatically printed out on an order slip.”

Appetite has very generously offered us five R200 vouchers to be redeemed via their app. That’s a lot of free food right there! If you’d like the chance to win one of the vouchers, simply leave a comment below. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to find RedTide the world’s greasiest cheeseburger.
