Its not often that you see a technology company reach such an important milestone , but ASUS has reached (and long since passed, by the time this is published) a sales total of 500 million motherboards globally. This includes every motherboard they’ve ever made since 1989, counting boards sent as warranty replacement and all OEM deals. ASUS currently dukes it out for top honours with Gigabyte, shipping just over 20 million mothebroards in 2013. To celebrate, ASUS is hosting a worldwide competition for its fans and has a press release for you after the jump.

To celebrate this quarter-century of effort and achievement, ASUS fans worldwide have been invited to enter to win great prizes in their ‘500-million motherboards’ competition. Open until 12 February 2015, visitors to the campaign website are encouraged to enter by sharing the site on their Facebook timelines and/or answering a short quiz relating to the history of ASUS. The grand prize is one-of-a-kind PC based on a limited-edition Sabertooth Mark S motherboard and encased in a unique ASUS TUF case mod. Weekly prizes include RT-AC87U dual-band AC2400 routers, S1 Mobile LED projectors, and the ultra-compact VivoPC VM40B.
