There has been a plethora of Adventure Time games to date, with many of them being of questionable quality. Where those previous titles focused on RPG and dungeon crawler elements, this new game, called Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations, is being billed as a classic adventure game experience. Only, it’s not too classic because it’s in 3D, but still, it’s an adventure game.
The game sees Finn and Jake discovering a machine known as the “tickertype”. This machine was used by Jake’s mother and father, who both used to be detectives. The “tickertype” was the machine that gave them their assignments. So, with Finn and Jake finding the machine, the duo decides to become detectives as well.
The game will play out in an episodic fashion, with numerous, standalone cases making up the entire game. Those cases will, however, be related. Note that the game distribution isn’t episodic (like Telltale Games’ stuff is), it’s just episodic in the way it plays out.
Naturally during your travels through the Land of Ooo, you’ll be visiting numerous areas that will be familiar to fans of the show. And in case you’re wondering, the events of the game take place more or less around the sixth season of the Cartoon Network series.
Below you can check out some very early footage for the game.
Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations is hitting PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One later this year. Toasters, fridges and Kenwood mixers have yet to be confirmed as platforms.
