Hey, you know what we haven’t had in a while? A console manufacturer telling us how great this new hardware cycle is going for them. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is about to do just that, as Jim Ryan, SCEE CEO, has provided some pretty beefy percentages for the company’s market share in Europe.
“Well, we have market leadership in every country in Europe,” Ryan said while discussing the PlayStation 4 console’s sales, “and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don’t think market-share’s any less than 70%, and frequently greater than 90% in continental Europe.”
That’s a pretty enormous market share, and while it’s an impressive thing to boast, it also means that Sony isn’t thinking of lowering the price of the PlayStation 4 anytime soon: “Consumers, equally and more importantly, appear to be happy with the price and the value proposition. We’ll leave it where it is for now.”
