Lizard Squad has retaliated in the wake of comments made by John Smedley regarding the sentencing of Julius “zeekill” Kivimaki. If you’re just catching up: Kivimaki is a Lizard Squad member who was found guilty of 50, 700 charges of computer-related crimes, but received no jail time and has instead been “forced” to work against and speak out about hacking crimes.

John Smedley, who is the CEO of Daybreak Games, was targeted by Kivimaki and is understandably livid at the news that the Finnish youth is basically getting away with everything. He spoke out against Kivimaki and now, in return, Lizard Squad has done what they know best: they’ve taken Daybreak Games’ servers offline through a DDoS attack.

The outage affected the servers for H1Z1 and Planetside 2. Lizard Squad has said that they will continue to harass Smedley (and by extension Daybreak Games) until such time as Smedley “travels to Krasnodar and bows down to zeekill”.

Recently, Smedley took to Reddit to further explain his position regarding Kivimaki and Lizard Squad. It’s worth reading to see the extent of the damage Lizard Squad has caused.
