Vanillaware and Atlus have teased a new joint project to be unveiled on the 20th of July via a live online stream. While details are sparse at this point, this is a project to be excited about: Vanillaware are renowned for gorgeous 2D games action games like Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown and Murumasa: The Demon Blade, while Atlus is well-known for bringing smaller, more experimental titles to life (such as Catherine) and, of course, their famous Persona series and its trillion spinoffs.
Digging around a little bit on the site, I’ve found a reference to “Grand”, which could potentially be a reference to their previous PSP title, Grand Knights History — a Japanese-only release, unfortunately — or the upcoming game Grand Kingdom for the PS4 and PS Vita by the same director, but that’s by a different developer so a bit more unlikely.
Now, I don’t normally get super-excited at curt partnership announcements or collaborative projects, but Atlus and Vanillaware? That high-pitched, “EeeeeeeeEEEEEE,” you’re hearing? Almost definitely me. Or something’s wrong with your ears. You best get that checked out.
