Timed exclusive (one of the lamest marketing things the gaming industry does) Rise of the Tomb Raider hit Xbox One recently, and was met with an extremely positive critical reception. Tarryn reviewed it (because she’s, like, the only one of us who owns an Xbox One) and enjoyed it; you can read about that here.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced as an “Xbox exclusive” at Gamescom in 2014. The announcement was met with a lot of criticism, and it was later revealed that actually by “Xbox exclusive” Microsoft really meant “timed exclusive”. The game was scheduled to hit PC in “early 2016” and the PlayStation 4 a year later.
Amazon France seems to have jumped the gun insofar as a concrete release date goes for the PC version of the game. According to their per-order listing, Rise of the Tomb Raider will hit PCs on 29 January 2016. The online retailer has since updated their listing, removing the date and replacing it with “Bientôt disponible”, or “coming soon” in English.
