Iron Maiden fans in South Africa are pretty psyched about the band’s arrival in the country in May of this year, but just in case that isn’t enough reason for fans to rejoice, there’s now also an Iron Maiden game scheduled to be released later this year.
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is a free-to-play RPG for Android and iOS devices. In it, players will be cast in the role of Eddie the Head, the zombie-like figure who has graced the band’s album covers for decades. Ol’ Eddie’s unfortunate soul has been shattered to pieces, and it’s up to you to help him retrieve the fragments, Voldemort-style. This will be accomplished by travelling through time and space, and making extensive use of Eddie’s different forms and personas throughout the years. His various foes and cover art contemporaries are also set to make assorted appearances and cameos.
Naturally, the game will feature a soundtrack composed of the titular band’s material, both new and old, including mixes exclusive to the game. Development is in the hands of 50cc Games and Roadhouse Interactive of Warhammer 40,000: Carnage fame.
As of this writing there are no screenshots available, but you can keep up with proceedings at the official site.
