We’re creeping ever closer to The Division‘s March 8th release date, but Ubisoft is already keen to remind everyone that The Division‘s quest for world domination (and domination of your time) doesn’t end then.
They’ve revealed that there’ll be a slew of free and paid updates to the game after its launch, and they’ve also detailed what you can expect if you opt for the Season Pass. Follow me and I’ll tell you everything you need to know.
“The development team has a complete post-launch plan to keep the experience fresh for all players, including several free updates, new features and functionality,” say Ubisoft. Those free updates will add new game modes, like “challenging group-oriented operations” that’ll test your abilities in cooperative play and earn you “unique rewards”.
Then, the Season Pass will include three major, paid expansions that’ll be released over the course of a year, and each of them will deliver new content and gear to keep you hooked on The Division long after you’ve completed the main storyline. The first, called Underground, “opens a new territory to players as they explore the uncharted underworld of New York City with up to 3 friends for intense co-op action”. The second is called Survival, and it’ll turn the entire map into a Dark Zone (OMINOUS) to provide a hardcore multiplayer experience.
The final expansion is called Last Stand, but Ubisoft’s not yet revealing any details on it. In addition to the expansions, Season Pass owners will bag themselves exclusive goodies like a sawn-off shotgun (which they call a “unique sidearm customised for short-range destruction”), weapon skins and outfits. They’ll also get access to “special monthly benefits”, like content drops and “special events”.
Here’s a recent trailer for the game, if you’ve not yet seen it in action:
