Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive had a reveal scheduled for 4PM local SA time today. We’re guessing that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was that reveal.
The game popped up prematurely on the Xbox Game Store as well as Amazon. It’s scheduled for a 26 June 2016 release on virtually every gaming platform on Earth. It’s being developed by TT Games (obviously) and, rather weirdly, published by Warner Bros. Interactive. This is (to my knowledge) the first time that Warner Bros. will be handling publication of TT Games LEGO game. I’m wondering if it has something to do with them recently publishing LEGO Dimensions? It also seems to go against EA’s recent Star Wars game publishing license, but as Polygon points out, EA’s license seems to cover “core games” whereas Disney retained publishing responsibilities for more casual Star Wars games.
Whatever the case, the facts are these: there’s a new LEGO Star Wars game and you’ll get to play as all of the characters from the recent movie. There are also some exclusive missions that are meant to bridge the gap between Episode VI and the events of Episode VII, so that’s rather neat.
You can chcek out a leaked trailer below before it gets yanked; when it does we’ll replace it with an official one probably this evening after Warner’s reveal.
UPDATE: we have updated this post with the official reval trailer that shows a lot more than the earlier leak.
Thanks to our friends over at SA Gamer for the heads-up.
