You remember that Call of Duty 4 remaster I was gushing about all over the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone last week? It includes the whole original campaign, plus 10 of the best multiplayer maps, with “fully improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles, revamped animation and audio, stunning sound, and much more” razzle-dazzle. It’s also going to be exclusively available as a Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare extra. I mean, you knew that already because it’s up in the headline, but COME ON. Really, Activision? Really-really.
The news comes via the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare FAQ, which features the question “Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?” and the answer “No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.” Even worse, the game is only bundled with the more expensive Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe special editions of Infinite Warfare, because obviously. And then when they’ve made a massive heap of cash selling it as a mandatory extra, they’ll probably repackage it as a standalone product next year anyway, because also obviously.
That said, however, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks kind of, sort of super rad because it’s in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace. Who am I kidding? I was always going to buy it. LOOK, GUYS, IT’S IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.
Game’s out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on 4 November.
