Between myself, Miklós and Matthew (he of clan Vice), this here website has spent much time gushing over the wondrous contents of CD Projekt RED’s role-playing masterpiece The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. I mean, just look at this. And this! AND THIS. Also, this.

My point is, even after all this time we remain quite smitten with the thing. Now, the game’s second expansion, called Blood and Wine, is due for release later this month. And with another 30 hours of Geralt-tastic adventuring promised, don’t be surprised if we completely shut down for a couple of days.

More info resides below, as does a teaser trailer.

“For the last time become professional monster slayer Geralt of Rivia and explore Toussaint, a remote land untouched by war, where you will unravel the horrifying secret behind a beast terrorizing the kingdom,” reads the description in the video below. Watch:

It’s honestly astonishing how beautiful The Witcher 3 is to look at. I’m still surprised by it every time I see it. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game’s director, explains what we can expect from the Blood and Wine expansion:

Blood and Wine makes The Witcher 3 complete – it’s Geralt’s final mission. Containing more than 90 new quests, and over thirty hours of brand new adventures, it’s something that I think gamers will remember for a long time. There’s also a massive amount of features we’re giving gamers with this expansion like a dynamic Point of Interest system, a new Gwent deck, new endgame mutation mechanics, and even a place Geralt can call home…. And it’s all happening in a new region as big as No Man’s Land in the base game.”

Blood and Wine is out on May 31st for PC, PS4 and XBO. It’ll set you back $19.99, but $24.99 will get you access to both it and Hearts of Stone, the game’s previous expansion.
