… I haven’t even played the original System Shock. I know that makes me a fake gamer and whatever, but it’s okay, because Night Dive Studios has announced it’s launching its Unity-powered “reimagining” of the game for PC and Xbox One, System Shock Remastered, on Kickstarter at the end of June, so I can make up for it then.
The news comes via a video on Facebook that doesn’t give much away besides a 29 June date and a mad love of 1980s VHS scanlines.
“We have been in contact with members of the original System Shock team and any future iterations of the System Shock games, and by this I mean both new titles in the series as well as major updates to the existing games, will be very true to the spirit of the originals,” Night Dive Studios boss Stephen Kick told Polygon last year, when System Shock Remastered was first announced.
Night Dive Studios previously released an “Enhanced Edition” of System Shock, and is busy watching over development of System Shock 3.
I haven’t played the original Deus Ex either, but we can talk about that some other time.
