Oh noes, somebody over at Xbox HQ oopsed and pushed go on the Destiny expansion page a day ahead of its expected announcement. The URL has since been removed, obviously, but intrepid copy-pasters over on Reddit managed to grab all the info in time, plus a 20 September launch date – confirming a previous leak. Bungie needs to get a plumber in, stat, but in the meantime, here’s what we know.
According to the expansion’s marketing blurb, Destiny: Rise of Iron will open up a new Plaguelands location in Old Russia, and features a whole heap of new things to see and do and kill.
“Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.”
The list of incoming content also includes:
- New Story Campaign & Quests
- New Armor and Gear
- New Weapons
- New Raid
- Maximum Light Increase
- New Strike
- New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space
- New Crucible Mode & Maps
- New Enemy Faction and Bosses
Bungie will officially reveal the expansion in a Twitch livestream tonight, so just pretend to be really surprised.
